[Horak] NZ, SI, OL, Te Anau, Eglington Valley, Gunn Lake, 480 m, on soil, under Nothofagus fusca (-menziesii), 11 Mar. 2000, E. & A.Horak 8678 (ZT, PDD 71164). P. -100 mm diam., umbilicate to deeply funnel-shaped with incurved-inrolled margin, very coarsely fibrillose to appressed hairy, margin smooth, liver brown or reddish purple brown with numerous paler and darker concentric rings, viscid if moist. - L. subdecurrent, very dense, narrow, cream-yellow with weak orange tinge, entire edges concolorous. - St. -40 x -20 mm, relatively short, usually tapering towards base, conical, paler concolorous with pileus, smooth or with distinctive darker hammer marks, dry, hollow. - Context whitish, brittle. - Latex white becoming pale olive upon exposure, milky. - Odour fruity. - Taste very acrid. Spp. pale ochre. [Leonard] Almost certainly L. tawai.
