Specimen notes
Public Note:
Sequences of this material suggest this is within the A. devoniensis group and not A. subperonatus ss. Kerrigan's notes with the specimen agree that this is a different brown-capped species with a peronate (wooly) veil.
J.A. Cooper
Public Note:
ITS groups with A. devoniensis. The cheilocystidia are small 17-18.5 x 6-7.5um like those of A. devoniensis but not like those of A. subperonatus. The spores averaging 6.4 x 5.1um agree with either species. I regard this as a distinct member of the A. devonisneis complex, distinguished by the brown pileus and a strongly peronate veil, which ... could be described at the appropriate rank after further material is stuied.
R.W. Kerrigan, 2001
