Specimen notes
Public Note:
Frb dried dark brown. With ring. Pale above ring and shaggy below. Gills dark chocolate brown. Pileus a trichoderm of unclamped pluteus-like (or Crepidotus fuscovelutinus) terminal elements. Spores Agaricus brown, small, thick-wallled, no germ pore. No cystidia observed. Overall the appearance of this is far too dark to be a Phaeolepiota. The spores look Agaricis section minores, although unusual in possesing a squamulose stem below the ring. Frb with white efflorescence (common in Agaricus). Not Phaeolepiota I'm not convinced it is Agaricus either because of the cap/stem structure. Will leave in Phaeolepiota to highlight the distinctiveness.
