Small, sessile, gelatinous-looking apothecia, erumpent from dead Rhopalostylis sapida fronds, with a scale-like flap of host tissue often retained at the base of the disc.
Excipulum with a Cyathicula-like anatomy. Long-celled, parallel hyphae embedded in thick gel, hyphae about 3-4.5 µm diam., end cells of excipular elements clavate, swollen to 5.5-7.5 µm diam., sometimes with dense yellow vacuolar contents in Melzers.
Two specimens have ITS sequences available. Based on an ITS phylogeny, this species is isolated within the Helotiaceae sensu Johnston et al. (2019)

Excipulum comprises long-cylindric cells in parallel rows and embdded in thick gel matrix. Paraphyses 1.5-3 µm diam., increasinging slightly and gradually toward the rounded apex, about same length as asci. Asci 120-150 x 10-13 µm, cylindric, apex more or less rounded, wall thickened at apex, J-, 8-spored. Ascospores 23-26 x 5-7.5 µm, elliptic-fusoid, flat one side in side view, slightly curved, widest point towards upper half, 0-septate, hyaline.
