#168. Looks like purple species but colours now water soaked, washed out, with slighlty greenish yellow tints remaining, remainder of pileus dark brownish. GILLS: white in large fructs. STIPE: still purplish tinted. TASTE: large fruct context and lamellae mild. CHEMICAL CHARACTERS: (large fruct) formalis n.r, phenol slowly deep vinaceous, FeSO4 immediately salmon pink; guiacol no recation, KOH on pileus - bleaching leaving area orange-red; on context n.r. NH4OH on pileus - brings up green colour; on context - n.r. HABITAT: gregarious under Nothofagus fusca & N. menziesii, nelson, maruia, 25.4.1969. Coll. R.F.R. McNabb
