Specimen notes
Public Note:
[PRJ] Apothecia appear as highly gealtinous, mis-shaped blobs, pale orange-brown, often in small groups. In vertical section excipulum comprises narrow-cylindric hyphae arranged in more or less parallel rows, embedded in thick gel; spores about 13-14 x 3.5 µm. This is typical Crocicreas sensu Carpenter. The drawing in Dennis Kew Bulletin 1954: 319 from the type of Peziza crocina (from Cuba) shows an excipulum of rather broad, parallel hyphae not thickly embedded in gel.
