22-34 mm across. Chestnut brown with heavy overlay of white veil remants giving pileus a grey appearance when young. Washes or rubbed off to reveal a matte, non-hygrophanous glabrous pileus. Flesh: Flesh chestnut brown to brown in cap and stip. Stipe wall context can be paler brown. Lamellae: Pale cream, to cream Cortina colour: Uncertain. Veil white Stipe: 22-37 x 6-8 mm Odour & taste: Raphinoid odor. Taste bitter
