15-85 mm across. Dark matte brown (almost brown black) Flesh: Creamy white. Many stipes hollow Lamellae: Cream, bruising red=brown where handled Cortina colour: Brown-red Stipe: 34-45 x 7-12 mm, clustered stipes, clavate, fused into joined base, cream with red-brown fibrillose overlay.
