Specimen notes
Public Note:
Cap broadly round-conical, becoming nearly plane with acute umbo or more often broader, rounded umbo. Dry, rugose-rivulose, margin opaque or obscurely translucent-striate. Dull brownish brick-red to orange-brown, hygrophanous and thus becoming pale beige-streaked radially, center beige-brown. Gills distant, slightly thick-edged, lamellulae in 2 tiers (smallest very short). Thin, even-edged. Dull, matte, coppery to reddish-brown. Stipe 26 to 42 mm tall, 3 mm thick. Surface smooth, dingy light yellowish. Partial veil not apparent. KOH nearly blackish-brown. Taste indistinct to slightly sweet. Odor indistinct. Fruiting under Nothofagus.
