Specimen notes
Public Note:
Cap 9-23 mm wide. Convex, nearly hemispheric, becoming broadly convex to nearly plane with depressed center, often irregular in outline at maturity. Margin even to crenulate, opaque to translucent striate. Surface dry to moist, finely scurfy. Matte tangerine orange at first, becoming light orangey-yellow, and then watery lemon yellow and then pallid yellow in age.
Gills widely spaced, fairly thick-edged, yellowish, becoming whitish. Finely attached, weakly sinuate.
Stipe 37-55 mm x 2-5 mm thick. Cylindrical, fairly straight or slightly sinuous. Rich orange when very young, immediately fading to washed out tangerine,then yellow-orange to yellow, and finally clear translucent yellow.
Odor indistinct, taste indistinct.
