Specimen notes
Public Note:
Cap 19-37, asymmetrical, fan-shaped, uplifted. Lustrous, zonate, dark brown to reddish-brown to blackish.
Pores very shallow, dingy dull mustard brownish.
Stipe 12-28 x 2-4 mm. Straight, tough, stiff-wire, tapered downwards. Dark brownish, but surface covered in an ochre tomentum.
KOH dark wine purple to black on pores.
