Macro and micromorphology seems to fit other NZ species in Pezizellaceae (Han Clade 3) clade, with subiculum-like hyphae and large ascospores with gel sheath, but no DNA sequence for confirmation and does not seem to match morphology of the Dracophyllum-inhabiting species in this clade that have been sequenced. Morphologically very close to Spooner's description of Rodwayella sessilis
