Specimen notes
Public Note:
The original AU96-47 collection is mixed - contained both H. clelandii (PDD 119526) and H. 'spooneri' (PDD119535). Distinguished morphologically by spooneri having numerous, long, flexuous seate, whereas clelandii has fewer seate emedded in part within the scaly outer layers of the receptacle. The macromorphological difference correlates with differences in ascospor size and shape (wider and more symmetrical in clelandii). The DNA sequences from the culture AU96-47 match the NZ specimens micro-morphologically typical of H. clelandii.
