Apothecia erumpent from host tissue, small flap of host tissue pushed to one side, often associated with dark, clypeus-like layer, often in groups of 3 to 4 apothecia. Highly gelat excip of long-celled elements in parallel rows. Large cyl asci with thick, J- apex. Ascospores 24-28 x 10-12, broad elliptic-fusoid, acute ends, narrow appendage at one end (ca 9-10 um long), wall ornamented, hyaline. Same as PDD 89917
