Public Note:
ITS sequence suggests it is a Lachnopsis sp., but morphologically quite divergent. Phylogenetic limits of Lachnopsis need testing with additional genes.
PRJ, Aug 2019
Public Note:
Dry apothecia with surface densely covered with tangled hairs. Hairs thin-walled, undifferentiated top apex, roughened. Excipulum of hyphae embedded in gel, reminiscent of Cyathicula. Asci 40-45 x 3.5 µm, with thickened apex, J+ pore barely visible, appears to extend all way through the wall. Paraphyses undidfferentiated; ascospores 5-7.5 x 1-1.5 µm, oblong-ellitpic, hyaline. 0-septate.
PRJ, Aug 2019
Public Note:
ITS phylogeny forms a clade in Lachnaceae. Apothecia with poorly developed (finely roughened, tangled ) hairs, excipulum gleatinous, somewhat tangled rather than strictly parallel elements, simple paraphyses, small ascospores. Species in both NZ and Australia, all on wood.
PDD 116694, PDD 60116, PDD 116692, PDD 116693. Also TTT 545 (D1872), TTT1907 (PDD 122802), and perhaps D1547, D2140 and D2108.
