Specimen notes
Public Note:
[WMD] This small hydrocybe has a scarlet cap and most fruit bodies are very small (<10 mm). The largest fruit body seen here is 11 mm in diameter and 20 mm in height. The gills are paler yellow-orange in colour with a darker orange edge and are attached and descending down the stipe. The stipe is red and 1.5 mm in diameter. Growing in remnant podocarp forest with broadleaf (totara/kaihikatea/rimu). Abundant cheilocystidia. This is the same as https://inaturalist.nz/observations/162799835. [JAC] Potentially the Australian Hygrocybe dorothyae with cystidia. [JAC:31/10/2023]Hygrocybe dorothyae is a spahgnum associate and has a red edge to the gills. This must be the same or close. See https://mushroomobserver.org/observations/22592
