cap 40-51 mm across, viscid, violet at first, more intense around margin, disc soon brown to orange-brown, stipe 19-37 mm long, 15-21 mm thick, moist, not viscid, whitish to violet, with an orange base, more orange with age, continuing through gleba. flesh violet, orange in stipe base, sligh tburnt plastic odor, taste indistinct Habitat: Scatterd in and buired in duff under red and silver beech [JAC:22/06/2023] spores 11.6 x 8.3 medium verrucose, and concentrated at the distal end. Despite the brown colours I think this is violaceovolvatus
