Specimen notes
Public Note:
Necrotic patches on both sides of leaf on living trees. Acervuli in radial stripes on grey patches on upper leaf surface. Mechanism of conidiogenesis unclear. Conidia yellow-brown 5 x 4 thick-walled, and rough. This fungus sems to be interpreted broadly. See also Blastocervulus eucalypti and Phaeothyriolum microthyrioides. Https://www.nzffa.org.nz/farm-forestry-model/the-essentials/forest-health-pests-and-diseases/forestry-diseases/Eucalyptus-leaf-spots/Eucalyptus-foliage-diseases/ Grows very slowly in culture, with a black yeast morphology and producing spores that aren't roughened. However I believe it it is the correct species. This has a sequence identical to Cercospora dichondrae so something not right. [JAC:23/11/2022] repeat says Blastacervulus, which is perhaps a synonym of Fairmaniella leprosa?
