Public Note:
[NS] Scattered and in small loose clusters under beech. Collected on the 7th photographed on the 10th. Cap 13-29 mm across, dry, velvety, dark orange-brown, some with a white (spore?) coating. Stipe 32-40 mm long, 2-4 mm thick, tough, cartilaginous, base orange-brown, with binding mycelium, growing from fused duff. No odor, taste bitter. [JAC] new sequence - undescribed species - near 'keith george'. Needs critical comparison with the type of M. atrocastaneus.
