Public Note:
[NS] In mixed podocarp-broadleaf forest. Must have been a beech around? Cap 19-53 mm across, dry, black, cracking on larger specimen, spines brown with pale gray tips, 1-4 mm long, stipe 38-52 mm long, 7-15 mm thick, blacking, staining black, base whitish, also staining, (slowly), flesh pinkish violaceus, slowly discoloring dingy gray-violaceous, to black in lower stipe. no odor, taste very bitter. KOH dark teal green to dark forest green. [JAC] hyphae clamped and spines not decurrent, so this is S. carbonarius, and so tea-tree around?
