[NS] Scattered from duff and soil under beech Caps ovoid, 46-52 mm short way, 66-70 mm across on the long side, dry dark. Pores pallid, slight dingy grayish staining when scraped, tubes 3-4 mm long. stipe 33-34 mm long,, 19-23 mm thick at apex, tapering downward, flesh pale yellow in cap, bright yellow in stipe, cap flesh bluing moderately quickly, slowly fading, and going orangish over time, red around larva tunnels, odor and taste indistinct.
