[NS] Scattered in duff under beech. Cap 45-78 mm across, dry, finely scaly, gills tan to light brown, with a paler, whitish edge, stipe 80-111 mm long, 10-16 mm thick, lower slightly swollen, pinched to base, base with white mycelium, lower porting with scattered scales, stipe tough, woody, taste indistinct, odor slightly floral. KOH dark brown to black on cap, brown on flesh, very dark brown on stipe. [JAC] colour shift needs correcting
