Public Note:
[GS] Small fruit bodies growing on twigs on the ground in broadleaf-podocarp forest. Caps 3-5 mm across. Stems black, very thin but wiry. [JAC] Looking at the dried material of this and it clearly has a collar around the stem. Yet your final photo of fresh material shows no collar. Clearly the 'collar' appears as the cap dries and pulls away from the stem. Not a reliable character in that case. There is no described NZ species that fits the micro-morphology of this.
