Public Note:
[GS] Growing in a garden planted with shrubs. Caps to 80 mm across. Flesh near base of stem went yellow when cut - see extra photo. Also, stems tended to be bulbous at the base, tapering to the apex. Smell was somewhat unpleasant, not what I would call aniseed, so presumably carbolic. [JAC] section xanthodermatei. Toxic group. We have a couple of species similar, but not the same as, A. xanthodermus. Not overhanging cap perimiter.
