Specimen notes
Public Note:
Dry apotheica pale yellow (off-white when fresh), slightly hairy look about them, in squash mounts the end cells of the excipular elements are cylindric and more or less free, somewhat hair-like, but barely differentiated. Darkened tissue at the base of the stipe, comprising small cells with thin, dark walls - perhaps a rudimentary clypeus-like layer as seen in some of the other taxa in this clade; see NZFungi notes under Pezizellaceae. Large, dark conidiophores adjavent to the apothecia - perhaps something to similat tyo the asexual state described for Callycellina caroliensis? Excip cells short-cylindric, walls slightly thickened but not gelatinous. Paraphyses 2 um, increasing gradullay to 3.5 um at rounded apex. Asci subclavate, tapering to rounded apex, wall barelt thickened at apex, intense J+ pore, blue ring wider towards outside of wall. AScospores 14-17 x 3.5-5 um, radially symmetrical, tapering to rounded ends, 0-septate.
