Referred to Phaeophleospora because of close genetic relationship to P. atkinsonii (based on Genbank accessions putatively from this species), but conidia of this specimen are hyaline. Note that neither species are congeneric with the type species of Phaeophleospora.

Public Note:
Possibly pycnidial conidiomata immersed in leaf, pale brown walls, conidia exuded in long pale yellow cirrhi. Conidiogenous cells about 8-10 x 3 um, broader in lower half, with conidiogenous locus at end of narrow neck. Conidia 8-17 x 1.5-3 (average 13 x 2.2 um), 0(-1) septate, hyaline with smooth, thin walls, more or less straight, tapering to both ends, rounded at apex, truncate at base. Cultures on PDA and MEA slow growing, little of no aerial mycelium, surface slimy with conidial masses in cirrhus-like strands.
