Public Note:
This species may have been rare in Austria, and only two localities in Styria are
cited by POELT & ZWETKO (1997: 87). However, recent observations in Graz and environs
show that it might (have) become more common by infecting ornamental cultivars of its host
species, e.g. Carpinus betulus cv. columnaris. In some localities whole trees appeared bright
orange in late summer and autumn, due to the mass production of uredinia.
