Specimen notes
Public Note:
[WMD] These fruit bodies are cream-white with a hint of colour in the centre (beige-tan). The gills are cream and arcuate. The stipe is cream with slight beige-tan colour towards the base with a distinctly tapered base. Fruit bodies were observed growing up to 4 cm in diameter and 5.5 cm in height. Remnant mature coastal broadleaf forest. This species completely confuses me. This is not one of the common Hygrophorus species - H. involutus or H. salmonipes. The spores are somewhat similar (distinct apiculus and these ones subglobose) to what I have loaded as Cuphophyllus sp. (because that is what my observation Camarophyllus pratensis var. gracilis was curated to) - see the spores for https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/12964765. This species has a "dryer" cap (not waxy like my apricot Cuphophyllus).
