Specimen notes
Public Note:
[WD] This white spored species has a dark black-brown cap with creamy gills and a cream-beige stipe. The gill attachment is sinuate and the caps have a slight inrolled margin. Cap size up to 6.2 cm in diameter. Growing amongst sub-alpine cushion plants alongside the track in damp braided river habitat. [JAC]Yes Melanoleuca. There is Stevenson's M. vinosa which is only known from the type (and is probably a Cystodermella). However the type has a scaly stem and cap so I don't think this is it. However I do have a feeling this is indigenous, and it fits the description of M. fusca described from Australia, so I will go with that name for the moment. New to NZ if so.
