Specimen notes
Public Note:
[WD] Gelatinous dark black-brown fruit bodies attached laterally to the wood substrate. The largest fruit body was 3 cm in diameter and 2.2 cm in height. The upper surface of the cap is tomentose at the base. The gills are dark brown. On fallen branch in remnant mature coastal broadleaf forest. I think it is possible it is the same as Anna Chinn collected on the Nelson Foray in 2014 accessioned as PDD 105689. [JAC] PDD 105689 is undescribed, and there are another two undescribed species, in addition to R. subapplicatus, merulioides, vinosolividus and violaceogriseus. Spores length=6.5-8.0µm (µ=7.3, σ=0.39), width=3.6-4.7µm (µ=4.3, σ=0.28), Q=1.5-2.0µm (µ=1.70, σ=0.14), n=13. This appears to be the same as PDD 105689 and so we now have a photo.
