Public Note:
[GS] Growing on the underside and sides of a rotting log in a native bush remnant. Mostly resupinate, but forming narrow, firm-leathery, shelves up to 14 cm wide on the side of the log which project out up to 35 mm and are up to 20 mm thick. Upper surface dark brown but with a wide, pinkish-white margin. Lower surface pinkish-fawn, covered with small pores (7-9 per mm) except for a narrow sterile margin. Fruit bodies readily sliced with a knife, context yellowish-brown overlying a chocolate-brown pore layer up to 6mm thick. Fresh fruit body with strong mushroomy odour. [JAC] surface immediately black in KOH. With brown setae and brown cylindrical spores 3.5 x 2um. Hymenochaetales? Sequencing says Polyporales.
