Public Note:
[GS] Growing on the trunk of a large tree in native beech forest. Brackets to 35 mm across and projecting out up to 25 mm. Upper surface smooth (not hairy) with concentric bands in different shades of orange, paler towards the margin. Lower pore surface pink with a cream to orange sterile border. Have added a photo of the underside of a fruit body taken 1 week after the initial observation. The pore surface looks rather different, it's now more of a orange-fawn colour. Also, the fruit body has a lateral stem, colour brown. I am wondering if it could be Rigidoporus, which it seems to key to in Hood's book, perhaps R. aureofulvus. [JAC] it is dimitic, unclamped and with smooth subglobose spores about 6um (maybe faintly dextrinoid?). No cystidia seen. Not my group but does seem to fit Rigidoporus laetus. Cap dark magenta in KOH
