Specimen notes
Public Note:
30th Fungal Foray of New Zealand
Public Note:
With Pholiota 'Hinewai' in moss in herbfield. Very fragile. Gills without cystidia. 4-pored, all tissue neither amyloid or dextrinoid. Pileipellis a clamped cutis, without diverticulae. Spores broadly ellispoid with distinct apiculus. Camarophyllus delicatus is described with whitish to beige gills but otherwise fits. Cuphophyllus section adonidi near C. aurantius.. Spores length=4.6–5.8µm (µ=5.2, σ=0.36), width=3.2–4.2µm (µ=3.7, σ=0.32), Q=1.2–1.7µm (µ=1.41, σ=0.13), n=11 [JAC] Neither fruitbody size or spores size/shape from Egon's concepts for apricosus and aurantiopallens seem to correlate well with collections. It seems there are at least two species with small frbs and elongate spores which one might reasonably call apricosus. Another larger species one might call aurantiopallens has frbs variable in size and spores not really globose. I will call these aurantiopallens cf.
