Specimen notes
Public Note:
KOH no reaction. Schaeffer negative. Cap, stem and flesh with pinkish hue, but not changing on cutting, perhaps browning slightly after a time. Cap with delicate adpressed squamules, rubbing off easily. Fruitbody soaking up water. Smell pleasant, mushroomy, not of aniseed or carbolic. Flesh in stem base white, unchanging. No ring or ring zone. Cheilocystidia, if present then basidiolar, some spores potentially with grm pore (but sometimes with a white abaxial spot?). 4-spored. cupreobrunneus, incultorum, superonatus, kerrigani ... Sequence is near, but not identical to good sequences of cupreobrunneus. Spores length=6.9-8.1µm (µ=7.6, σ=0.33), width=4.4-5.2µm (µ=4.8, σ=0.24), Q=1.4-1.7µm (µ=1.60, σ=0.07), n=20. Spore size, germ pore and cheilocystidia are not convincing characters for this collection.
