Specimen notes
Public Note:
No tissue amyloid/dextrinoid (stem slighlty dextrinoid). Stem with caulocystidia a mixture of short cylindrical or pointed elements, and acuminate hair-like elements, latter more frequent towards base. Cap with siccus surface. With tapering cystidial projections around cap edge. Cheilocystidia present and perhaps same as cap edges but not seen under compound. Large clamps. 2-spored, lacrymoid. Stem base cylindrical, naked. Spores length=7.5-9.1µm (µ=8.2, σ=0.37), width=3.2-4.0µm (µ=3.6, σ=0.25), Q=2.0-2.8µm (µ=2.31, σ=0.22), n=13. Smell not nitrous. Spores much smaller than 9816 but surely the same (ITS says not). Does not have the strigose cap hairs of H. hirtsuta NZ (or H. crispula sensu northern hemisphere). There aren't many 2-spored clamped species. H. crispula has different pileipellis and H. epichole different caulocystidia. Sequence near one named gracilis but that with bigger q spores and different caulo. Same as 14466
