Specimen notes
Public Note:
skeletal hyphae present in gill tissue. Has gloeosphex (hour glass) cystidia and so theoretically should be in Hohenbuehelia. It seems that character for gloeosphex is not so solid after all. Spores length=7.8-12.2µm (µ=9.4, σ=0.98), width=3.4-4.2µm (µ=3.9, σ=0.26), Q=2.1-3.3µm (µ=2.43, σ=0.28), n=20. Cap hyphae 3-10um. The kew type of P. parsonsiae requires examination for skeletal hyphae. Note that Petersen has discussed in some length the use of the terms dimitic/skeletal for these hyphae in Pleurotus. A recent paper is incorrect in its assumptions about P. parsonsiae.
