Specimen notes
Public Note:
Inamyloid, 4-spored, ellipsoid 5.3-6.9µm (µ=6.0, σ=0.7), width=2.2-2.8µm (µ=2.4, σ=0.2), Q=2.2-2.8µm (µ=2.5, σ=0.3), n=5. No cystidia. Context sulphur yellow. Can't see clamps (but hard to tell). No gloeocystidia in SV. With yellow resinous drops in Melzers, dissolving in alkali. With plentiful rhomboid crystals insoluble in acid/alkali. Basal hyphae forming dense chalky layer in dried material. Internal structure disrupted. Basidia 25x5um. Dried hymenium red (after a time) in KOH. P. chrysocreas. Material identified as Corticium bullata in PDD needs reexamining. Stalpers just looked at the type and left the bulk of the material hanging as Phlebia sp. 1. To make it evn more confusing Odontia archeri auct various is considered a synonym of P. chrysocreas althou sensu Cunningham is considered by Barbara Paulus to probably be Phlebia subceracea, whilst the real O. archeri is something else again.
