Specimen notes
Public Note:
Via Alexis Guerin, Plant & Food. Distinct lateral stem. cap a clamped cutis of thin walled hyaline hyphae. Spores partly dextrinoid. 4-spored. Gills orange anastomosing. Cap felty. 4-spored, some 2-spored.. No cystidia. Cap staining green? spores length=5.2-6.6µm (µ=5.9, σ=0.35), width=3.7-4.4µm (µ=4.0, σ=0.24), Q=1.3-1.8µm (µ=1.48, σ=0.12), n=20. Undescribed but presumably near H. tapinia. If peat manufacture is from local material then this is probably an overlooked indigenous species. Note from sender indicates this only found in the drying sheds and not the source (Scobi'es Peat mine I assume). Info on the NZ peat industry indicates it is mixed with imported coir - so always possibility it is exotic. LSU indicates near, if not same as, H. coacta
