taste mealy. Cap red in KOH. 4-spored, clamped. spores dextrinoid. with wrinkled epispore and plage. Pleurocystidia absent. Cheilocystidia large, with inflated head, and sometimes thin stalk. Note that G. nasuta (Au) may be the correct name for this (or what we have been calling G. patagonica)
