Specimen notes
Public Note:
Small, mostly mouldy collection, divided into two packets. One packet has what macroscopically looks like Mollisia. The other packet has a single intact apothecium - glabrous, translucent orange-yellow with quite a robust and long cylindric stipe. Excip of short, broad-cyl, thin-walled cells. Paraphyses undiff. Asci cyl to subclavate, long basal stalk, apex not clearly seen. Ascospores about 10-12 x 3-3.5 µm, oblong-elliptic, flat one side in side view, not curved, slightly wider towards upper end, taper to both rounded ends, base slightly more broadly rounded. .
PRJ, Oct 2021
Public Note:
Perhaps could be Hymenoscyphus pezizoideus, type from Waitaki on decorticated wood and morphologically not impossible.
