Nicholas Martin noted that these spots consistently associated with gall fly blister galls. Spots uniform ain size and shape, and consistently associated with the Phaeophleospora conidiomata. Conidiomata immersed, becoming dark walled; conidiogenous cells short-cylindric, hyaline, broad conidiogenous locus but annelides not observed; conidia about 10 x 2 um (rarely up to 18 x 2.5 um), 0-septate, smooth-walled, cylindric, slightly and irregularly unevenly bent, truncate base, very pale brown, dark in mass.
