veil filamentous, clamped, 4-spored. Pore apical. length=13.1-16.5µm (µ=15.4, σ=1.0), width=8.9-10.1µm (µ=9.5, σ=0.4), Q=1.5-1.7µm (µ=1.6, σ=0.1), n=12. Not cinereus - spores too big. C. macrocephalus is not a lawn species and the spores do not show the lateral constriction and caps are less cylindrical when young. Differerent to the NZ taxon labelled macrocephalus which also isn't C.m. ss.
