Specimen notes
Public Note:
[PL] Deep ochre spores, flexible gills, mild taste, purple and green cap. [JAC] sub-cutis purple. Cap pink in SV but no SV+ DCY or granules. Cap surface layer 130um of spherical cells , over 80um layer of intermixed filamentous hyphae, over sphaerocyst context. Relatively few hairs, septate, acuminate and rounded, arising from swollen cells. Gill edge with dense layer of cystidia, slightly thick-walled, acuminate and irregular, mixed with normal cylindrical refractive cystidia. Stem cutis filamentous over spherocysts, with a few spade-like terminal hairs. Spores in print are very variable in size. largest length=8.6-9.7µm (µ=9.2, σ=0.46), width=7.4-8.3µm (µ=7.8, σ=0.38), Q=1.1-1.3µm (µ=1.18, σ=0.08), n=5, more common smaller length=7.2-8.9µm (µ=7.9, σ=0.51), width=6.2-7.6µm (µ=7.1, σ=0.39), Q=1.0-1.2µm (µ=1.12, σ=0.05), n=20. Ornamentation to 1.8um. With weakly defined plage and pale grey amyloid spot. Appears closest to aucklandica/pudorina but certainly with different colours. Need to see other collection. ITS makes this identical to R. atroviridis.
