Public Note:
[PL:] Cap blood red, somewhat depressed, palid cream at very edge of cap, fine cuticular hairs. cap. diam. 45mm. with DCY, fleash mild, spores 7x8 short blunt ridges, not reticulate. Stem length 60mm. Gills pink coloured edge near stipe. Cheilocystidia acuminate with hair-like endings. Up to 150um long 110-150 x 16-20 thick walled. . Pleuro similar but less acuminate. FeSO4 nil. [JAC:] with magenta subcutis. DCY SV-ve, exuding pigment, with violet/grey granules. Cutis a trichoderm of short hairs, often forked at base, arising from spherical cells (nested), in a layer 75um deep, then disorganised layer for 250um before sphaerocyst context, intermixed with fascicles of griseoviolacea-like hairs to 130um long, septate, ends rounded, with occasional refractive content, thick-walled, arising from spherical cells. Stem cutis purely filamentous, with fascicles of caulocystidia, thin-walled, refractive, not arising from swollen cells, but otherwise like cap. Cheilocystidia thinly acuminate but not hair-like. With refractive tips, thick-walled. All features like macrocystidiata. Cystidia enormous. Spores from gill length=7.4-8.8µm (µ=7.9, σ=0.42), width=6.1-7.8µm (µ=6.8, σ=0.42), Q=1.1-1.3µm (µ=1.17, σ=0.06), n=20, ornamentation to 1.3um. I'd say this was macrocystidiata - yes, verified by sequence.
