Specimen notes
Public Note:
[PL] spores 8.7-10.2 x 7.3 -9.2um, av 9.4+-0.4 x 7.9 +-0.5um. Q=1.03-1.30 av 1.19+-0.08. Ellipsoid with warts and truncated spires and ridges to 1.5um high. Cheilocystidia thick walled, fusiform, 901-20 x 8-12um. [JAC] SV+-ve with faint reaction of small elements, not granular like some collections. Only present in cap centre. Other collections have this same reaction which I may have called 'granular' but which is distinct and different. Exuding pink pigment. Cap colour bleaches out in KOH. Cap a short trichoderm over a layer of spherical cells over a disorganized filamentous layer. Surface with septate hairs to 130um. Septa refractive, and with small refractive content at apex. Apex rounded. Base of hairs forked, but ultimately arising from spherical cells, sometimes chains. Cap hairs inamyloid. Macrocheilocystidia quite obvious on dried gill. Macrocystidia are thick-walled. Spores length=7.3-8.6µm (µ=7.9, σ=0.38), width=5.9-7.1µm (µ=6.4, σ=0.33), Q=1.1-1.3µm (µ=1.23, σ=0.06), n=20, ornamentation 1.2um.
