Characterised as:
Two cultures (ICMP 7024, ICMP 7035) represent a species with a poorly resolved relationship near Stagonosporopsis and were isolated from Dioscorea bulbifera leaves from the Solomon Islands and Vanuatu. They may represent either an undescribed or previously unsequenced Dioscorea-specialized species. The SMML database records Phoma dioscoreae, Phoma oleracea and Phoma tropica from Dioscorea. The ICMP specimens do not match the type specimen of P. tropica (CBS 436.75) but the other two species reported from Dioscorea have no DNA data available in GenBank.
