Rhizomatous, with scale leaves.
Perianth segm. orange, 4 whorls of 3 segm: inner 2 whorls with segm. showing thickened median rib (modified filament?) with aborted anther at apex of segment.
Anthers 3-6, filaments variable length, longest ± 1/2 length of per. segments, distorted.
Pistils distorted.
Per. segments with many [parallel] veins, jointed by faint cross veins.
