Flower.
Open sparsely branched shrub, 1 m x 1 m. Planted shrub about 2 m from old glasshouse. Leaves matte green above, paler below, margins crenate (-serrate?) and teeth with thickened tips. Flowers single at shoot tip nodes, pedicels 5-8 mm. Sepals obtuse, 5 - (6), sepals imbricate; petals 5 - (7), 3 cupped at 'back' of flower and 2 -4 'forward' and flat. Somewhat crumpled, 18 mm long stamens, white, numerous, dense around 3-4 mm. Style split halfway down, ovary superior?. Whole flower 30 - 35 mm diameter, scented. Appears to be Theaceae.
