Habitat:
Growing with tall manuka, mahoe, five-finger etc. On sandstone.
Notes:
Tall in gullies; short on exposed ridges. Matches K amathicola. Juveniles densely branched, very small leaves, but fruiting. Up to 16 m or so; 15 – 20 cm or more dbh, foliage held in rounded canopy on multistemmed thinnish trunks. Clearly wind shaped. Bark tight, tough, does not break easily, stringy, comes away in small superficial flakes, fine surface texture.
