Notes:
Flower / fruit Leucadendron salignum was one parent of Leucadendron "Safari Sunset", which Ian Bell produced. Several Leucadendrons in this garden have been identified as L. salignum. Shrub 1.5 m, semi-erect, wide branched; sub-floral leaves wine-red on adaxial surfaces. Leaves down stem are green with red 'flush'. Cone scales densely pubescent with ciliate fringes. Ian Bell cultivated Leucadendrons and hand-crossed them (also guided by his mother-in-law, Jean Stevens). See #7006 [CHR 674839] - this is a variant of L. salignum. Rebolo says there is a lot of variation in wild of this species. iNaturalist observation: 101978711
